General Ophthalmology
General Ophthalmology involves a comprehensive medical and/or surgical examination and treatment in addition to an examination for glasses and/or contact lenses. Many medical diseases can be detected by an examination of the eyes - including hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes, diseases of the thyroid and many others. Board certified Ophthalmologists can treat diseases of the eyes, including cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, eye injuries, eye infections, glaucoma and macular degeneration, both medically and surgically.
